Grafton House

History of The Grafton House

The Grafton House has a unique past in St. Augustine before becoming the Grafton House assisted living facility in 1988.  For a number of years, the first floor served as a physician’s office and the second floor was an apartment.  The old Flagler Hospital and several of its auxiliary buildings were neighbors of the Grafton House.

The Carmines Family have privately owned and operated the Assisted Living Facility in St. Augustine since 1994.  After having a son, Michele and Robert wanted to move to a city that would offer them an excellent way of life for their family.  They also wanted to continue their involvement in the relatively new long term care option, assisted care.  As a couple who had elderly grandparents and parents, as well as professional experiences in assisted care, Robert and Michele believed and continue to strive to offer true assisted care. It is how assisted living is offered that makes the difference..
